Sanchez hoping for big season

Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez is hopeful of a more consistent season at the Camp Nou after shrugging off the last of his fitness concerns.

Signed from Udinese is a deal worth up to 37.5 million euros in 2011, the Chilean's debut campaign was plagued by lengthy spells on the injury table as Barcelona were pipped to the Liga title by arch-rivals Real Madrid.

After taking time to come to terms with the causes of his injuries, the 25-year-old is optimistic he can do better than the 15 goals he managed in 25 appearances last season, as he now prepares for the new campaign under coach Tito Vilanova.

"Thanks to all those who worked with me, I now know my body better," Sanchez told El Mundo Deportivo.

"This year, I hope not to get hurt so often and so give better performances. I hope to be more regular and consistent."

Sanchez started in Barcelona's 2-1 friendly win over Bundesliga side Hamburg on Tuesday evening.
